Dr. Checkups

Violet and Ava went for their 9 mo. and 2 yr. checkups yesterday. They both passed with flying colors. Ava didn't even cry when she got her shot and her finger pricked. Violet also had two shots, but she did cry. The highlight was the fact that I ran out of diapers so rather than leave Violet in a soaking wet diaper, I just took it off and used paper towels until we got home. Accident free!

Ava was 26 lbs and Violet's stats are below:
Weight- 16.2 lbs (5th percentile)
Height - 27 in (25th percentile)
Head Circumference - 44.5 cm (60th percentile)

Sunshine

Ava chewing on a marker - note the blue on her hand.
The view outside the kitchen window.

Violet eating Gerber puffs.

Yesterday the sun was shining and it was beautiful! I thought the girls looked cute, too.

Happy Easter!

We started a new tradition this Easter. Each basket is hidden with a string tied to it that goes all over. Around tables, upstairs, through the kitchen and outside. With two different colors of yarn going everywhere, it sort of makes your house into an Entrapment-type setting. We took a lot of video, so there aren't many photos, but it was fun for Tyler and I. Ava and Violet still didn't get that you were supposed to follow the string, not just go where mom and dad go and eat chocolate the whole time.

Fun at the Govern's

On Sunday night even though I was feeling sick we went to visit our friends Jewel and Steve to meet Jon's new girl. It's always a good time in Pontiac! The dog's name is Jada and the little baby is Isabella. Ava likes Steve's style. I won't post the pictures of Jon or Sierra because they didn't turn out the best and I don't want to blog-hated.

Once there was a snowman

"Once there was a snowman, snowman, snowman
Once there was a snowman tall, tall, tall
In the sun he melted, melted, melted
In the sun he melted, small, small, small"

I may have the words slightly off but the Primary song from church still holds true and brings smiles from Ava. This is all that's left of Tyler's snowman he built mid-January. I've been waiting for it to melt. It originally was taller than me and sported a face and branch arms. But now it's reduced to one small pile of ice/snow. There's still a lot of snow on the ground, but on Friday Ava, Violet and I took our first walk through the park of 2008. It was really nice to be outside and feel fresh air again. The puddles were about 3 inches deep in some places. But it was ok. It was still fun!

Sharing

Ava and Violet are becoming increasingly interested in each other. Ava shares with Violet (most of the time) and Violet wants what Ava has. Yes, this results in some crying. But overall it is very nice to see that they are getting along with each other.

Tyler's Monopoly Dreams Come True

Tyler wanted me to capture this moment in history when he won all the properties and money in Monopoly. Notice there isn't a hotel on Park Place though. I think there was a cash flow problem. This is perfectly Tyler in so many ways. I'm glad I could let him win.

Learning to crawl

Sometimes learning to be away from mommy is hard. Violet loves to be held and watch everything that is going on around her. So crawling has come a bit more slowly than if I had worked with her more. But she is finally getting the hang of it.
I tried to get a picture of her one tooth, but this is as close as it came. I like to think of her as the "one tooth wonder." There's only one time in a person's life when one tooth can be adorable.
