The most anticipated event of the year

Graduation happenings began with an MBA kids graduation with the dean. It was SO nice. Even juice boxes on ice, grilled cheese and cupcakes!

Let me tell you, it was hard to get those kids' MO assignments in. Lots of nagging.. (JK)

This was North's favorite part.

The actual day of graduation Are You a Human hosted a luncheon for the team and their families. Their office space is at a place called TechArb in the Google building.

Ta Da! Then the big day. There was a nice reception at the school.

Then the graduation at Hill Auditorium.

Followed by dinner at Gaucho Brazilian Steakhouse.

Congrats Babe! SOOOOO Glad it's DONE!

Once in a lifetime

Tyler was having lunch with a friend during the fall and he said, "You didn't come to b-school to just get any job, you came to get your dream job."

Well, sometimes dreams do come true. Tyler and his co-founders of Are You a Human? spent Wed - Sunday in Houston. Read on ...

Highlights from the press release:

Rice University Business Plan Competition awards $1.3 million in cash and prizes

The world’s richest and largest business plan competition brought 42 teams from across the globe to pitch their new technology business plans to more than 250 judges who themselves are successful venture capital investors, entrepreneurs, and business leaders. More than 700 people attended the banquet that marked the conclusion of the three-day RBPC.

FORTUNE covered the competition again this year and will feature the winners, teams and competition in the May 23, 2011 issue of the magazine and on CNNMoney.com beginning today. (CNN called them today, whhaaaat? and Tyler will be in the May issue of Fortune magazine)

Are You a Human?, University of Michigan won second place overall for a total of $154,100, which included the $100,000 Opportunity Houston Technology Prize and the $15,000 cash prize for second place sponsored by Finger Interests. Are You a Human? has developed a simple, secure, game-based human authentication tool that replaces the distorted text images known as CAPTCHAs.

Decidedly so.

Here's Violet and I in a peaceful time while Ava was sleeping.
Smiling.

The next few are for my mom, who was dying to know what Tyler's acceptance packet to U of M looked like. It was fed exed and I had to sign for it at 9 am on a Saturday! It came with a binder, a few documents and a shirt.

"Congratulations you're invited"

The box and the front of the binder.

The letter.

The big box.

Another one ...

Tyler also found out this week he got into BYU! Horray! Now we have to make a decision. On another note it has been FREEZING here. Local schools were cancelled because of the cold. How awesome. Good thing Ava and Violet slept over at grandma and grandpa's last night and Audrey is home to hang with the kids!

Breaking News

Tyler got admitted to U of M for his MBA, class of 2011! We are so excited, and I am so proud of him. U of M is ranked #5 in the country by Business Week, http://www.businessweek.com/bschools/rankings/ Their entrepreneurial programs are really great too.

This is a crazy world, and a crazy life. I noticed an extremely bright full moon last night and knew something would happen today.

We just submitted the UCLA app last week. We are still waiting to hear from BYU after his interview, and haven't heard anything from Stanford or UC Berkeley. But knowing U of M is a sure-thing makes us very excited and ready to move on to the next step of life.
