Camping

Immediately after we got back we headed for Sleeper State Park. It is in the "thumb" of Michigan. Tyler's Paxton side had a reunion.

Sadly. There are no pictures. It was too hot. And sandy. Literally I felt like I was going to die or puke it was so hot. I had to wet a washcloth and put it over my face so I could feel some relief from the heat. But the beach during the day was really nice and the heat wasn't too bad. There was a nice breeze coming off the water.

After sleeping there three nights we came home for two and then left again for Palmyra, NY. There are some church history sites there that we really enjoyed. We also met some friends there. We tent camped in our new tent! The campsite was great, and the new tent worked out really well. Amazon didn't let us down in their reviews!

Obsessed with flashlights.

And made himself right at home by the campfire.

Our new set up.

There was this giant bubble the kids could jump on at the campground. Super fun.

The next morning we went to the Sacred Grove. This is where Joseph Smith prayed and then saw Jesus Christ and Heavenly Father. It is really quiet and special.

The Palmyra temple is right down the street. By this point Ava was having too much fun. :)

And last but not least we went to the place where the Book of Mormon was first published. It was beautiful. If we ever have a library I will paint it the exact same.

Week of Craziness

We did so much last week it's hard to keep track of. First: a wedding in Chicago. We took a bus. Not sure if we'll do it again but it sure was cheap. This photo pretty accurately describes the experience:

Chicago really was awesome. So pretty and really clean.

Mind you, Chicago in the summer really is great. It's the whole winter thing there that is truly awful. (Worse in my opinion than where we are if you can believe that) Tyler and I did yoga in Millenium park. It was hot but really fun. The woman leading it could chant, which was neat.
And then the wedding! Tyler's friend from U of M was getting married. It was really neat. Her dress was gorgeous. Strapless with a little sheer beaded shrug.

 Bridesmaids:

 Breaking the glass:

 Tables:
  And a few others:

It was a fabulous night. We danced till midnight. My feet hurt for days afterward. I guess that is a sign you had a good time!

Foolin' around

Look how big they are getting!

Grandma's 95!

Ninety-five years. Wow! So much changes in 95 years I can't even begin to comprehend all the changes my Grandma has seen in her life. My mom came into town and we had a small gathering here at the house. Yes, this would be party Number 4 at our house in June! Her birthday is really on Sunday, but my mom was kind and realized that our Sunday's are pretty much off-limits so we moved it up a day.  My grandma is so wonderful. We love her so much. Happy Birthday!

Anniversary Number 8

8 crazy years. Since our anniversary is the day after North's birthday, we escaped that night and went to the west side of the state and enjoyed the beach. It's no ocean, but it certainly is fun to have sandy beaches sort of nearby.

Tyler is still recovering 8 days later from his sunburn. He turned into grouchy lobster-man. I'm hoping Tyler will return soon. I'll post when he's back.

Happy Birthday North!

North, As you turn two I see glimmers of the person who you will become. A very happy addition to our family. Your eyes light up with excitement and you are very funny. You love lifting heavy things, and are eager to help. You like order and love seeing your scribbles on paper or walls. You are already potty trained! You are affectionate and kind yet stubborn. Mom, Dad, Ava and Violet love you so much. We are so blessed to have you. Here are some fun memories from your birthday.

Dad's attempt at "Ball" cake pops

Grandma barely being able to walk because of being on the roof.

Looking more like your daddy every day.

 Obsessed with cars.

 The rocket was a hit!

Blowing out the candles was also a highlight.

Love you my little man. Always take care of your momma, okay? She needs you and your hugs.
